About the Podcast
Fantasy Fangirls is a top-charts podcast hosted by sisters Nicole and Lexi, who deep dive into beloved fantasy stories one series at a time. Every episode, they cover several chapters of a book with a uniquely fun summary, then discuss insights, character analysis, foreshadowing, and theories, before wrapping up with an in-depth explanation about a world-building topic. Plus, lots of laughs, jokes, and sisterly banter along the way!
Fantasy Fangirls has covered Fourth Wing and Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros, and is now journeying through A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas. New episodes air every Monday.
In addition to deep dive episodes, Fantasy Fangirls occasionally releases bonus episodes with content ranging from “Ask Us Anything”, book teasers, guest interviews, story predictions, and more.
Fantasy Fangirls has grown into so much more than just a podcast since it launched in September 2023.
It has brought a book community together to bond over our love for fantasy, with 90,000+ weekly listeners and 240,000 followers across social platforms.
We celebrate the real-life impact of these fantasy stories, connecting with each other through these fictional characters, their journeys, and the fictional worlds that hold a special place in our hearts.
Multiple TikTok videos went viral on Day 1. The girls had originally hoped for maybe 20 downloads in the first week, understanding how difficult it is for new podcasts – but instead, surpassed 5,000. Popularity exponentially grew as the Fourth Wing fandom rallied around Fantasy Fangirls’ deep dive coverage, and within three months, the podcast hit 1 million downloads.
It was a wildly crazy, exciting, and surreal first few months for Lexi and Nicole (still is!) as they threw everything into this podcast, Fourth Wing and Iron Flame content, and the growing community around it all. To this day, Fantasy Fangirls is known as *the* source for the Empyrean series among the fandom.
5 months after launch, Fantasy Fangirls became Lexi and Nicole’s full-time business and they absolutely love being partners on this journey together. They’re currently covering A Court of Thorns and Roses series (the fantasy story that started this all!), regularly appear in the global top charts, have 11,000+ 5 star reviews, a combined following of over 240,000 across social channels, a thriving Patreon community, and are partnering with fantasy events around the country for live appearances/shows. Most importantly, these Fantasy Fangirls sisters continually put their all into this incredible book community that loves to discuss our favorite stories, share theories, and gush over characters that are real to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making Fantasy Fangirls what it is today. You’ve shared it with all your fellow readers, you write supportive messages that never fail to make us teary-eyed, and you tune in every week to listen to these deep dives.
The Unicorn Story of Fantasy Fangirls
In Summer 2023, Nicole picked up a book titled A Court of Thorns and Roses – having no idea what it was about. After falling in love with the series, she convinced her older sister, Lexi, to begin the book, too. Lexi loved fantasy, but had shelved reading as a busy adult (you know how it goes). She quickly fell into this fantasy world along with Nicole, and so their love for reading together began.
Within a month, these sisters decided to take their text conversations about these stories to the microphone and start a podcast. By September, Fantasy Fangirls was ready to launch with BookTok sensation Fourth Wing.
And that’s when things got crazy.
Meet Lexi…
Lexi was climbing the corporate ladder in B2B tech marketing before she became a mom. Then her identity was wrapped up in motherhood for several years, and this rediscovered love for fantasy reading (plus the catapult into content creation) has largely helped her find herself beyond being a mom. A top priority for her in this community is supporting other moms going through a similar journey.
She is the fantasy lore nerd of the two and loves to analyze the world-building, walk through timelines, and understand the cultures and politics that make up these stories.
Meet Nicole…
As an entrepreneur/podcaster for 5 years, Nicole always enjoyed diving head first into things, gaining the title of “deep dive queen” from her husband.
But last August, she picked up ACOTAR, and the analyst part of her brain was immediately devoted to romantasy. Nicole is the hopeless romantic of the FFG duo who loves all things tension, love, and shadow daddies. She’s known to write smut love letters about how empowering these stories are for us in the real world. Also, she gets very worked up about dragons.
